The California State Athletic Commission has released the official salaries for all of the contestants who competed in Saturday’s “UFC 157: Rousey vs. Carmouche” event.
Sometimes, when you lose, you actually win. Despite dropping a controversial split decision to Lyoto Machida in the card’s co-main event, Dan Henderson walked away as the night’s highest earner.
Hendo pocketed $250,000, while “The Dragon” left the OC with a flat $200,000 salary.
As far as the star of the show, we now know how much Ronda Rousey (Pictured) made in her heavily-hyped big league debut. There was plenty of secrecy surrounding the figure entering the scrap, and there still is considering we’ll never know Rousey’s percentage of the pay-per-view pie or if she received any discretionary bonuses from her boss, but Rousey pocketed a reported $90,000, with $45k coming via win bonus, for beating Liz Carmouche.
Carmouche was paid $12,000.
Rousey earned a reported $40,000 in her final Strikeforce bout against Sarah Kaufman.
Please keep in mind, the numbers that get reported to the athletic commissions are only of what’s required. These figures do not include deductions for items such as licenses and taxes.
Additionally, they do not contain money paid by sponsors or any bonuses from the UFC. These royalties can include pay-per-view commissions, Fight Night bonuses, top secret discretionary bonuses, etc., which can oftentimes represent a substantial portion of a fighter’s total income.
Honda Center in Anaheim hosted Saturday’s event.
