Stefan Struve isn’t the only one who broke something on Saturday night at UFC on FUEL TV 8. Lightweight Takanori Gomi revealed he fractured his right hand at some point during the opening round of his highly controversial defeat to Diego Sanchez.
As customary with most wounds suffered inside the Octagon, Gomi posted a picture of his X-ray on his official blog for the entire MMA world to enjoy.
Despite working with only one haymaker for much of their 15-minute affair, Gomi powered through and appeared to do more than enough to get his broken hand raised in victory.
Gomi landed more significant strikes and total strikes in all three rounds than “The Dream,” but the hometown boy was homered for a split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) loss.
“How the f*** did Diego win that fight!? Crazy s***,” UFC president Dana White tweeted immediately after the verdict was rendered.
UFC on FUEL TV 8 took place Saturday inside Saitama Super Arena in Japan.
