Middleweights Roger Gracie (pictured) and Tim Kennedy will make their big league debuts at UFC 162. Unfortunately for the Strikeforce transfers, they won’t get to taste new Octagon blood, as they will meet each other on July 6.
The UFC announced the matchup Wednesday evening.
Gracie owns a 6-1 professional record. The jiu jitsu guru will be riding a two-fight winning streak into the scrap.
The 31-year-old’s lone blemish came in a highlight reel knockout to Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal at “Strikeforce: Barnett vs. Kharitonov.”
Kennedy has rattled off victories in seven of his past nine outings. Unfortunately for the former military hero, both of those defeats came in Strikeforce title fights.
MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada hosts the festivities.
Here is the card’s currently lineup:
Thiago Silva vs. Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante
Mark Munoz vs. Tim Boetsch
Roger Gracie vs. Tim Kennedy
Chris Weidman vs. Anderson Silva (UFC middleweight champion)
