On Wednesday evening, the planet’s premier mixed martial arts promotion announced middleweight Mark Munoz will return to action against Tim Boetsch at UFC 162.
The July 6 event takes place inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Munoz had his four-fight winning streak snapped by Chris Weidman the last time he took center stage. The July scrap was the 35-year-old’s first bout back after undergoing elbow surgery six months prior.
Boetsch will also be looking to bounce back from a loss. “The Barbarian” dropped a TKO to Costa Philippou at UFC 155 in December.
As reported earlier today, middleweight king Anderson Silva will headline the gig opposite Chris Weidman.
Here are the athletes expected to perform Fourth of July weekend:
Thiago Silva vs. Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante
Mark Munoz vs. Tim Boetsch
Roger Gracie vs. Tim Kennedy
Chris Weidman vs. Anderson Silva (UFC middleweight champion)
