UFC Alistair Overeem

With the awesome fight announcements coming at a fast and furious pace on Wednesday, it was only a matter of time before some bad news struck. According to MMAFighting, Alistair Overeem (pictured) has suffered an undisclosed injury that will force the heavyweight out his UFC 160 bout with bitter rival Junior dos Santos.

The report states Overeem recently hurt himself while training and his camp informed the promotion that their client will be sidelined between four-to-five weeks. They are hoping to keep the dos Santos scrap intact, but simply pushed back until July.

The UFC has not confirmed Overeem’s injury.

If the report holds true, this won’t be the first time something has come between dos Santos and Overeem. The mortal enemies were expected to collide at UFC 146, but Overeem was forced out of the shootout after registering more than twice the legal limit of testosterone in his system.

“The Demolition Man” was issued a nine-month ban and was knocked out by Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva in his return at UFC 156.

UFC 160 takes place May 25 inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The heavyweight top contender contest was slated to co-headline the pay-per-view broadcast.

Current 265-pound champ Cain Velasquez defends his throne against Bigfoot in the show’s featured attraction.

Here is the card’s revised roster:

Junior dos Santos vs. TBD

Jeremy Stephens vs. Estevan Payan

Robert Whittaker vs. Colton Smith

KJ Noons vs. Donald Cerrone

Gunnar Nelson vs. Mike Pyle

Abel Trujillo vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov

Stephen Thompson vs. Amir Sadollah

TJ Grant vs. Gray Maynard

Ryan Bader vs Glover Teixeira

Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva vs. Cain Velasquez (UFC heavyweight champion)
