A rib injury has forced Ediane Gomes out of next month’s scrap against Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos (pictured). Fiona Muxlow has agreed to serve as substitute to face the former Strikeforce featherweight champion at Invicta FC 5 on April 5.
Muxlow holds a respectable 6-2 pro mark, but was submitted by Marloes Coenen in her last outing. She was originally slated to battle Julia Budd in the April 5 event.
The promotion is now scouring the globe for Budd’s new opponent.
Cyborg hasn’t been seen since her December 2011 TKO victory against Hiroko Yamanaka was overturned to a no contest. The Brazilian was busted for steroids shortly after the bout and was issued a 12-month suspension.
Cyborg owns a 10-1 (1 NC) professional record.
The Cyborg vs. Gomes winner was supposed to fight Coenen to become the company’s inaugural 145-pound champ. The stakes are expected to be the same of the new matchup’s victor.
Ameristar Casino Hotel Kansas City, Missouri hosts the festivities.
