For the first time since recapturing his crown in April 2008, UFC welterweight king Georges St-Pierre (pictured) is pegged as less than a 3-to-1 odds-on favorite to retain his throne.
While a specific date has yet to be set for St-Pierre’s impending title defense against Johny Hendricks, that didn’t stop MMAOdds from firing off a line for the 170-pound shootout.
St-Pierre is rated as an early -225 favorite, while Hendricks checks in as a +175 underdog.
Just in case you were wondering how the division’s last three top contender fared; GSP was -500 against Nick Diaz this past Saturday at UFC 158, he was -350 in November’s title unification bout with former interim champ Carlos Condit and “Rush” was -450 in his fight prior to that against Jake Shields.
St-Pierre will be riding an 11-fight winning streak into his tango with Hendricks, with his last eight being of the title defense variety.
Hendricks, meanwhile, is perfect through his past six scraps.
