The 13-bout roster for “UFC 161: Barao vs. Wineland” has been finalized. And if it wasn’t understood before, realize now that the planet’s most prestigious mixed martial arts promotion is taking this female fighting thing very seriously.
Alexis Davis and Rosi Sexton will appear in the pay-per-view portion of the star-studded lineup. The bantamweights are following in the main card footsteps of Ronda Rousey vs. Liz Karmouche (UFC 157) and Miesha Tate vs. Cat Zingano (TUF 17 Finale).
Therefore, the critical welterweight scrap between Jake Shields and Tyron Woodley gets pushed to the prelims.
The June 15 show features a bantamweight title tilt between (interim) champion Renan Barao (pictured) and Eddie Wineland. Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira serve as the night’s co-main attraction.
Light heavyweights Dan Henderson and Rashad Evans receive third-to-top billing.
