Dave Herman’s (pictured) pot smoking days are over, at least for the time being. On Thursday, the UFC announced the heavyweight will end his six-month drug suspension against Shane Del Rosario at UFC 162.
Herman failed his post-fight drug exam after getting submitted by Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at UFC 153 in October. It marked the second time the 28-year-old has flunked a screening under the UFC’s watch.
Herman was pulled from a scheduled UFC 136 scrap against Mike Russow when he failed a pre-fight test issued by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Herman later revealed marijuana was the offending substance, though he denied ever using the sticky icky.
“Pee Wee” claimed he was a victim of secondhand smoke…
Herman will likely be fighting for his UFC life against Del Rosario. He’s dropped three consecutive scraps, in addition to his drug problems.
Speaking of losing skids and trying to salvage your big league career, Del Rosario is winless in his last two outings – both coming inside the Octagon.
The Strikeforce transfer was victorious in his first 11 professional bouts before embarking on his current slide.
UFC 162 takes place July 6 inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
