Shane Carwin has just Tweeted that he’ll be officially fighting Brock Lesnar at UFC 108 in Las Vegas, Nevada, barring any injuries or illnesses of course. “Just received a bout agreement for UFC 108. Looks like January 2nd is the new date,” the number one contender wrote.

It was announced yesterday that Lesnar would not be able to compete at UFC 106 on November 21st because of an illness that he couldn’t shake.

Prior to confirming his 2010 date,  Carwin posted a blog on his official website to update fans about where his head was at after hearing the worst news of his professional career.

“Fighting for the UFC belt is my path and honestly Brock coming down with his illness only gives me more time to be in that much better shape,” stated the 11-0 heavyweight.

Now that Carwin knows that he’s still going to be fighting Lesnar for his strap, he can now focus on his training and wanted his fans to know that no matter what, he’ll be in the Octagon on January 2nd.

“I would have never pulled out of the fight. I would wheel myself to the cage if it was my choice,” Carwin proclaimed.

UFC 108 is rumored hosted inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
