UFC light heavyweight king Jon Jones (pictured) has taken quite a bit of heat the past few days for how he behaved during Saturday’s face-to-face interview with Chael Sonnen.
While Jones didn’t care to chop it up – or even make eye contact, for that matter – with his chatty challenger during “The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale,” Jones had plenty to say about Sonnen on this week’s edition of FUEL TV’s “UFC Tonight.”
“Chael’s doing what he does best. He’s promoting a fight and I’m going to let him do it,” Jones said on why he’s refused to engage in verbal warfare with MMA’s most lethal smack talker. “I realize through experience that talking trash does nothing for the fight.”
However, Jones then proceeded to drop his two cents on why Sonnen lost both title bouts to reigning UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva and why “Bones” is confident he’ll make the testosterone replacement therapy user 0-3 in UFC championship affairs come April 27.
Jones believes true champions don’t require the use of synthetic substances and loopholes to prove their mettle.
“People know that Chael Sonnen has done steroids throughout his whole career and that’s probably why his testosterone is low now,” Jones added. “I don’t think that is the heart or the attitude of a champion, so that’s what I meant when I said he lacks champion’s soul.”
Sonnen has professed numerous times that he needs to take TRT, otherwise he will “die.” Clearly, Jones isn’t buying what Uncle Chael is selling.
Speaking of buying, will you be dropping $54.95 to watch UFC 159 on pay-per-view? Jones is an astronomical 10-to-1 odds-on favorite to dispose of Sonnen inside Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, so the actual scrap might not be as entertaining as the pre-fight chatter.
