Jon Jones wasn’t the first UFC star to score an endorsement deal with Nike, but the reigning UFC light heavyweight king is the only Octagon athlete to have his own signature shoe with the athletic clothing giant.
“I’ve come a long way since my first pair of Nike’s,” Jones tweeted Thursday with the above pic.
The shoes, along with matching “Bones Jones” apparel, will be available Friday at Nike.com and Niketown in Las Vegas and New York.
As for the shoe itself, it looks like Nike just changed the colorway and slapped “Bones” across the tongue of their “Nike Free Trainer 5.0” model.
An original pair of the Air Jordan 1’s sell for as much as $2,500 if they are in mint condition. Will the first Air Bones’ someday reach those collectible heights? The Bones collection won’t be as transcendent as the Jordan line, but it is a monumental step towards the mainstream for Jones and MMA.
Jones will officially debut his new gear at UFC 159 when he defends his 205-pound crown against Chael Sonnen.
