Matt Mitrione’s (pictured) suspension lasted all of 16 days. Late Wednesday night, the UFC announced the outspoken heavyweight will battle Brendan Schaub when the promotion returns to primetime television on July 27.
Mitrione came under heavy fire earlier this month when he made non-politically correct comments about transgender fighter Fallon Fox just two days after snapping his two-fight losing streak. The UFC immediately suspended his contract in order to distance themselves from his insensitive remarks.
UFC president Dana White subsequently confirmed “Meathead” was fined a substantial amount of money.
Schaub, meanwhile, also ended his two-bout skid in his last outing by taking an uneventful unanimous decision win over Lavar Johnson in February.
KeyArena in Seattle, Washington hosts UFC on FOX 8.
