On Tuesday, the Ultimate Fighting Championship announced they have inked a “ground breaking” three-year television deal with soon-to-be launched BT Sport.

BT Sport will replace ESPN UK as the UFC’s exclusive broadcast providers in the UK and Ireland beginning August 1. The UFC’s current contract with ESPN UK expires that same day.

The UFC has aired on ESPN UK since 2009. BT Sport recently “bought the companies that own the ESPN and ESPN America channels in the UK and Republic of Ireland.”

Specifics surrounding the UFC’s new arrangement with BT Sport will be revealed in the coming days. However, the start-up channel is expected to include taped UFC content and shows.

BT Sport will announce the fees for their services shortly.

UFC president Dana White (pictured) & Co. have been working diligently to secure a new TV deal in the UK and Ireland to ensure those rabid fans don’t miss a second of Octagon action. The BT Sport agreement arrives just in time for “UFC 163: Aldo vs. Pettis,” which airs August 3.
