“UFC on FX: Belfort vs. Rockhold” took place Saturday inside Jaragua Arena in Jaragua do Sul, Brazil.
Vitor Belfort welcomed former Strikeforce middleweight champion Luke Rockhold to the big leagues in tonight’s showcase scrap. A middleweight tango between Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza and Chris Camozzi served as the co-main event.

Lucas Martins Defeats Jeremy Larsen via KO (Punch) at :13 in the 3rdRound
1stRound: Larsen catches a kick and clinches him against the cage. Martins lands a big right hand and follows up with a short elbow. Larsen drops him with a right hand and pounces. Larsen scrambles for a heel hook from off his back. They are back to their feet. They are exchanging leather in the pocket. Larsen secures a takedown. Martins slips on a head kick and Larsen falls in his full guard. Larsen, 10-9.
2ndRound: Martins comes out firing. Larsen tries to clinch him against the fence to slow the pace. Solid right hook by Larsen. Larsen is bleeding from the bottom of his right eye. Larsen clobbers him with another right. Larsen stuns him again with another vicious right hand. Martins refuses to drop. Larsen, 10-9.
3rdRound: They both land right hands at the same time, but Larsen is the one who is unconscious on the canvas. Wow. This place is going bananas.
Jussier Formiga Defeats Chris Cariaso via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
1stRound: Formiga tags him with a leg kick and immediately shoots for a double-leg. He plants Cariaso on his back for a moment. He picks Cariaso up and slams him back to the mat. Formiga advances to side control. Formiga is smothering him on the ground, but the ref stands them up because he’s not pleased with the action. Weird… Formiga, 10-9.
2ndRound: Formiga takes him down within seconds. He quickly moves to full mount. Formiga has dominated the action, though hasn’t inflicted any damage. Ref stands them up again. Formiga, 10-9.
3rdRound: Formiga trying to bring this back to the canvas. The crowd is not too thrilled with this scrap. Whoa, Cariaso slaps on a d’arce choke from out of nowhere. Formiga manages to escape. Cariaso lands a takedown with a minute remaining. Might be too little, too late. At least Cariaso went for broke. Cariaso, 10-9, but likely loses the bout, 29-28.
John Lineker Defeats Azamat Gashimov via TKO (Punches) at 1:07 in the 2ndRound
1stRound: Lineker immediately clocks him with a right hand and goes in for the kill. He now has Gashimov clinched against the cage. Gashimov appears to have recovered. Lineker tosses him to the ground and is working in the full guard. Lineker lands a left hand, Gashimov counters with a right. Referee Mario Yamasaki deducts a point from Gashimov for grabbing the fence. He warned him once before the deduction. Lineker floors him again and is bringing the pain. Lineker, 10-8.
2ndRound: Lineker picks up right where he left off in the prior round. He lands a big kick to the rips. Lineker collapses Gashimov with powerful body shots and pounces. It’s a wrap.

Fabio Maldonado Defeats Roger Hollett via Unanimous Decision (29-27, 29-28, 29-27)
1stRound: Hollet throws a spinning back kick that lands right in Maldonado’s groin. OUCH. Time is called. Game on. Hollett scores a double-leg takedown. They’ get stood up by referee Leon Roberts. Knee to the midsection by Hollett while in the clinch. Maldonado returns the favor. Roberts separates them again. Hollett secures another takedown. Hollett, 10-9.
2ndRound: Hollett continues to beat him to the punch. Maldonado finally notching his first points of the fight with a combination. He’s now attacking Hollett’s body with punches. Maldonado continues to punish him against the cage. Hollett appears to be gassing. Maldonado, 10-9.
3rdRound: Hollett fails on a takedown attempt. He tags Maldonado with a right. Maldonado is going to town, landing nearly any and every punch he wants. The punch count discrepancy is off the charts in Maldonado’s favor for the past two stanzas. Maldonado trips him to the mat. Maldonado, 10-9, and likely rallied to win, 29-28.
Yuri Alcantara Defeats Iliarde Santos via TKO (Punches) at 2:31 in the 1stRound
1stRound: Alcantara comes out blazing, but whiffs on most of his dynamic strikes. Santos eats a knee to the grill. Alcantara going to town with several unanswered punches to the face. Alcantara drops him with straight left hand. He’s giving him the business now. That’s all she wrote.
Paulo Thiago Defeats Michel Prazeres via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
1stRound: Prazeres has him clinched against the cage, trying hard to drag his opponent to the ground. Thiago tripped him to the mat for a brief moment. Thiago lands a straight right. Prazeres is scoring with solid leg kicks. Tight round to score. Mitchel Prazeres, 10-9.
2ndRound: Thiago backs him up with a big knee to the chest. Prazeres stumbles and Thiago lands in top position. Prazeres gets to his feet and drags Thiago to the canvas. Enormous left hand by Prazeres and he follows up with a takedown. Thiago reverses and is pounding away. Another close frame to score. Thiago, 10-9.
3rdRound: Thiago clinches him against the fence. They exchange knees in the clinch. One-two combination by Prazeres. Whoever scores a takedown or flurry in the final minute could take this fight. Thiago drags him to the mat with 20 ticks remaining. That may have sealed it. Thiago, 10-9, and might have won, 29-28.
Gleison Tibau Defeats John Cholish via Submission (Guillotine Choke) at 2:34 in the 2ndRound
1stRound: Tibau catches a kick and trips him to the ground. He lands a knee to the body before Cholish gets to his feet. Tibau scores with a left hand. He picks Cholish up and slams him to the mat. Tibau, 10-9.
2ndRound: Tibau blasts him with a vicious left hand. Tibau slaps on an arm-in guillotine choke. He lets that go so he can clamp on a tighter one. Cholish is forced to cry uncle.
Francisco Trinaldo Defeats Mike Rio via Submission (Arm Triangle Choke) at 3:08 in the 1stRound
1stRound: Rio eats a left hand. Rio gets the fight to the canvas. Trinaldo fights to his feet, but takes a knee to the stomach for his troubles. Rio gets planted on his back. Trinaldo locks in a arm triangle choke. Game. Set. Match, Trinaldo.
Nik Lentz Defeats Hacran Dias via Unanimous Decision (28-27, 29-28, 29-28)
1stRound: Lentz trying to do what he does best, wrestle his opponent to the ground. Dias does a solid job of fending him off. Lentz going for a single-leg takedown again. Lentz gets a hold of his back and dragged him down for a moment. Dias reverses and has a body lock. Lentz, 10-9.
2ndRound: Lentz, but drops him with a knee to the midsection and pounces. Lentz is draped all over him. Dias has been warned about grabbing the fence in the opening round. He’s done it twice since. Lentz advances to full mount. Lentz, 10-9.
3rdRound: Dias comes out with a much greater sense of urgency. He lands a couple of bombs. Lentz tries to regain control by clinching him against the fence. Dias picks him up and slams him. Lentz tries a guillotine choke on the way down to no avail. Dias slaps on an arm triangle choke. Lentz fights loose. Lentz gets to his feet. Dias is still going all out. Dias, 10-9, but likely lost, 29-28.

Rafael Natal Defeats Joao Zeferino via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28)
1stRound: Zeferino clips him with a big overhand right. Natal eats a foot to the grill. Zeferino charges forward and connects with a flurry. Natal answers with a right. Zeferino trips him to the mat. Both guys going for leg locks. Referee stands them up. Zeferino, 10-9.
2ndRound: Zeferino tags him with a left hand. He follows up with a kick to the body. Natal gets taken down for a split second. Zeferino nails him with a one-two combo. Pace has slowed quite a bit, particularly Zeferino. Natal gets him down. Close round, Natal, 10-9.
3rdRound: Zeferino is gassed, but he’s still landing big shots. Natal gets a body lock and plants his opponent on his back. Natal advances to full mount. He’s pounding away on Zeferino’s dome. Natal, 10-9, and may have won, 29-28.
Rafael dos Anjos Defeats Evan Dunham Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
1stRound: Dunham catches a kick and lands a left. Dos Anjos scores with a solid body shot. He follows up with a big leg kick, but Dunham counters ends up on top. Dos Anjos, 10-9.
2ndRound: Dunham immediately gets a double-leg takedown, but only for a moment. They are exchanging in the pocket, with Dos Anjos’ shot to the stomach highlighting the flurry. He tags Dunham with another punch as they separate. Dunham methodical with his attack. Headbutt has blood trickling down around Dos Anjos’ right eye. Dos Anjos lands a combo, but eats a knee for his troubles. Dunham trips him to the mat just before the horn sounds. Dunham, 10-9.
3rdRound: Dos Anjos stuffs a takedown attempt. Dunham’s standup might give him the edge in this close one. Both continue to trade shots. This is going to be an interesting decision. Dunham, 10-9, and probably rallied to win, 29-28.
Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza Defeats Chris Camozzi via Technical Submission (Arm Triangle Choke) at 3:37 in the 1stRound
1stRound: Jacare tags him with a big right hand. He trips Camozzi to the mat. Solid ground-and-pound by the Brazilian. Camozzi lands an upkick to the face. Jacare advances to side control. He tries an omoplata. He clocks in an arm triangle choke. Camozzi can’t tap because he’s asleep.
Vitor Belfort Defeats Luke Rockhold via KO (Head Kick) at 2:32 in the 1stRound
1stRound: Leon Roberts is the third man inside the Octagon. No touch of gloves. Rockhold slips on a head kick. Belfort stuffs a takedown attempt and makes him pay with a right hand. Rockhold scores with a left hook. HOLY CRAP!!! Belfort just unleashed a nasty spinning heel kick to the face. A few bombs on the ground and it’s a wrap.
