It’s been a rough week on the MMA injury-front, and you can now add Kurt Pellegrino to the UFC’s ever-growing IR list. Frankie Edgar Tweeted that his “The Ultimate Fighter Finale 10” opponent has suffered an injury and will be forced out of their December 5th appointment.
“Pelligrino pulled. Stay tuned to see replacement,” Edgar Tweeted Friday afternoon.
AOL FanHouse has since learned that herniated discs will keep Pellegrino on the sidelines for approximately three weeks.
The two lightweights were slotted as the night’s co-main event inside The Pearl at The Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada. It’s possible that Edgar could retain his post, however a lot of that might depend on who the UFC is able to pit against the talented wrestler.
Edgar was last seen thoroughly dominating former UFC 155-pound champ Sean Sherk at UFC 98 in May. The unanimous decision bumped his record to an impressive 10-1 (5-1 inside the Octagon). The only blemish on his resume came at the hands of Gray Maynard when he took a convincing unanimous decision of his own in April 2008.
