On Friday evening, it was announced a welterweight shootout between former interim champion Carlos Condit (pictured) and Martin Kampmann will headline UFC on Fox Sports 1 2.
FoxSports.com first reported the matchup, which the UFC confirmed by re-tweeting the article.
The August 28 event takes place inside Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The scrap marks a rematch of their highly controversial encounter in April 2009 when Kampmann took home a split decision victory.
Condit will be looking to snap his two-fight losing skid. After rattling off five straight wins to earn a crack at 170-pound king Georges St-Pierre, “The Natural Born Killer” has dropped unanimous decisions to GSP and most recently Johny Hendricks.
Speaking of Hendricks, November’s KO loss to “Bigg Rigg” was the last time Kampmann took center stage. “The Hitman” had collected three consecutive wins prior to getting put to sleep at UFC 154.
FOX Sports 1 will broadcast the night’s main card live.
No other fights have been announced for the show at this time.
