All sizzle, no steak. All show, no go. Whichever phrase you would like to use to sum up Phil Baroni’s (pictured) 13-year professional mixed martial arts career, either fits like an MMA glove.
Despite owning a disappointing 15-17 pro mark, Baroni has managed to build a cult following established primarily on hype. In two stints with the UFC, “The New York Bad Ass” was plain bad by dropping seven of nine scraps in the big leagues.
The 37-year-old’s latest loss came this weekend in a landslide TKO defeat to Nobutatsu Suzuki at ONE FC 9. Baroni broke his fibula and dislocated his ankle in the process.
Despite the gruesome injuries – and more importantly, lackluster résumé – Baroni vows to continue fighting.
“It ain’t over till it’s over, I still got one wheel left on this bitch motherf—ers. And Im gona skate on one f—ing foot if I have 2 . Never Say Die ! ….LION HEART……” Baroni posted on the UndergroundForum.
Lion heart or stubborn as a mule? The writing might already be plastered all over the cage wall…
