It seems the only MMA news to hit the Internet the past several days has involved injuries – outside of Quinton “Rampage” Jackson signing with Bellator and TNA Wrestling, of course. On Tuesday, it was reported Tarec Saffiedine is the latest to succumb to injury.
The former Strikeforce star will have to pull out of his UFC on FOX 8 shootout with Robbie Lawler (pictured) with an undisclosed injury. “Ruthless” will now fight Siyar Bahadurzada on July 27.
Lawler made a triumphant return to the Octagon by posting a vicious TKO victory over Josh Koscheck in February at UFC 157. The veteran has won two of his past three scraps.
After starting his big league career in spectacular fashion by knocking out Paulo Thiago, Bahadurzada proceeded to drop a unanimous decision to Dong Hyun Kim in March.
Lawler and Saffiedine were slated to meet in the night’s main card. It is believed the new matchup will maintain that spot in the lineup.
KeyArena in Seattle, Washington hosts the festivities.
