On Tuesday night, the Ultimate Fighting Championship announced reigning lightweight champ Benson Henderson (pictured) will defend his throne against TJ Grant at UFC 164.
The August 31 event takes place inside Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Grant was promised next dibs at Henderson’s crown after steamrolling former top contender Gray Maynard at UFC 160. He will be riding a five-fight winning streak into the biggest bout of his life.
Grant has finished off his last two victims in devastating (T)KO fashion.
Henderson, meanwhile, has rattled off six consecutive victories en route to capturing the UFC belt. “Smooth’s” past three scraps have been of the title defense variety.
Here is the card’s current roster:
Soa Palelei vs. Nikita Krylov
Ben Rothwell vs. Brandon Vera
Chad Mendes vs. Clay Guida
Dustin Poirier vs. Erik Koch
Frank Mir vs. Josh Barnett
