And then there was one, as in New York is the only state in America with an athletic commission that hasn’t legalized mixed martial arts.

On Wednesday, Connecticut became the 47th state to regulate MMA. Alaska and Montana lack the necessary regulatory bodies to oversee the sport.

“We are officially passed in the Connecticut senate!!! #mmact Bridgeport here we come!!!” UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta (pictured) tweeted.

The UFC has led the way in helping MMA gain regulation throughout the US. Although they continue to aggressively attack New York, the world’s largest media market, it appears the Big Apple will once again turn its back on MMA for another year.

Oh, New York. How we long for you…
