After a night of freebie MMA action, the UFC awarded Erick Silva and Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante each an additional $50,000 for their special performances Saturday night at “UFC on FUEL TV: Nogueira vs. Werdum.” Thiago Silva (pictured) double-dipped by pocketing two bonus checks.
On a card that broke the UFC record for most submissions with eight, the promotion felt Erick’s first round armbar on Jason High was the most impressive.
Cavalcante and Silva took home “Fight of the Night” for their back-and-forth battle.
Silva also scored “Knockout of the Night” for his violent assault on his bitter rival.
The UFC withholds these bonus checks until all fighters pass their drug tests. Silva has flunked two of his last three drug exams.
UFC on FUEL TV 10 took place inside Ginasio Paulo Sarasate in Fortaleza, Ceara, Brazil.
