The good news for Alexander Gustafsson (pictured), he finally landed the title shot he has been clamoring for. The bad news for “The Mauler,” the Gambling Gods expect reigning light heavyweight king Jon Jones to maul him at UFC 165.
Although their scrap was just announced yesterday, it didn’t take long for the powers that be to come up with a betting line. Jones is an early 8-1 odds-on favorite to collect his sixth straight title defense.
Gustafsson, meanwhile, checks in as a significant 5-1 underdog.
The Swede shouldn’t feel too badly about his longshot status. Jones was pegged at -1000 against Chael Sonnen at UFC 159 and he was also -800 versus Vitor Belfort at UFC 152.
“Bones” was ONLY rated at -500 when he met Rashad Evans at UFC 145.
