UFC Lightweight Anthony Pettis

Well, UFC featherweight king Jose Aldo won’t have to worry about Anthony Pettis (pictured) cutting the 145-pound line anymore. On Friday, it was announced a knee injury has forced Pettis out of his UFC 163 shootout against Aldo.

“The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung has agreed to serve as substitute on August 23.

Jung will be riding a three-fight winning streak into the biggest fight of his life. However, the popular submission specialist has been mending his injured shoulder since upsetting Dustin Poirier last May.

Aldo, meanwhile, is considered by most as the baddest featherweight to ever play the game. “Scarface” has rattled off 15 straight wins en route to capturing the 145-pound crown.

June was originally slated to face fellow top contender Ricardo Lamas at UFC 162.

No word on what’s in store for Lamas. In addition, the extent of Pettis’ injury was not disclosed.

HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil hosts the festivities.
