What do you do when your job is on the line in the UFC? A fighter typically has two options – drop a weight class or win your next scrap.
Well, Hector Lombard (pictured) intends to do both. On this week’s edition of FUEL TV’s “UFC Tonight,” it was reported the now-former middleweight will attempt to shed 15 pounds and swim in the welterweight pond.
In addition, Lombard has requested to make his 170-pound debut against Nate Marquardt.
Lombard had rattled off 24 consecutive wins prior to signing with the UFC last April. Although “Lightning” entered the big leagues with much hoopla, he has only produced a subpar 1-2 mark inside the Octagon.
However, UFC president Dana White isn’t quite prepared to call the promotion’s latest big acquisition a complete bust. In March, White likened the 35-year-old to a former big fish swimming in a small pond who is now nearly drowning in the deep end.
