Question: Who is Jacob Noe? Answer: The man who retired Renato “Babalu” Sobral (pictured).
The 16-year veteran announced he’s hanging up his mixed martial arts gloves after getting TKO’d by Noe on Wednesday night at Bellator 96.
Babalu kicked off his professional career by rattling off 12 consecutive victories. He later won 10 straight to earn a crack at then-champion Chuck Liddell for his UFC light heavyweight crown.
That was the peak of Babalu’s career. Unfortunately for the Brazilian, he caught a shin to the dome and was put down shortly after by “The Iceman.”
Babalu ends his extended career with a 37-11 record. He lost three of his last four scraps in devastating (T)KO fashion.
In addition to competing for the UFC, the 37-year-old fought for Strikeforce, Affliction and various other promotions across the globe.
