Looks like Fedor Emelianenko wound up fighting inside the Octagon, after all. However, the most decorated heavyweight in mixed martial arts history just comes in the form of UFC bantamweight queen Ronda Rousey (pictured).
During Wednesday’s Metro PCS Facebook chat – you know, because “Everybody’s Moving to Metro” (even though I don’t know anybody who actually has) – Rousey claimed to be Emelianenko’s biggest fangirl.
“My favorite fighter to watch ever I would say is Fedor Emelianenko,” Rousey stated (via MMAWeekly). “He’s always going to be my favorite. It was the first highlight reel I ever saw of MMA.
“I loved his style and how he came from a Judo-Sambo background, and I really try to emulate his style every time that I fight.”
Rousey is clearly referencing Fedor during his heyday in Pride FC, when “The Last Emperor” was running MMA before the UFC became THE UFC. At one point during his illustrious career, Emelianenko had rattled off 27 consecutive wins.
Emelianenko retired last June after putting Pedro Rizzo to sleep in merely 84 seconds. Like her hero, Rousey also enjoys making quick work of her opponents. All seven of the “Rowdy” one’s pro fights have ended via first round armbar submission.
