Strikeforce Danillo Villefort

For the first time in World Series of Fighting’s short history, the start-up mixed martial arts promotion will tear a page out of Bellator MMA’s playbook by hosting a tournament.

WSOF 5, which takes place September 14 inside Revel Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey, will feature a four-man middleweight tourney. Danillo Villefort (pictured) battles David Branch on one end of the brackets, while Elvis Mutapcic faces Jesse Taylor in the other semifinals matchup.

The winners will meet on a future WSOF card to claim the tournament crown and establish themselves as the company’s top 185-pound contender. The promotion does not currently have a middleweight champion.

Both bouts will join the main event between Anthony Johnson and Mike Kyle on the main card, which airs live on NBC Sports Network at 9PM ET/6PM PT.

Here is the show’s current lineup:

Elvis Mutapcic vs. Jesse Taylor (WSOF Middleweight Tournament)

David Branch vs. Danillo Villefort (WSOF Middleweight Tournament)

Mike Kyle vs. Anthony Johnson
