On Wednesday afternoon, a heavyweight shootout between Shawn Jordan (pictured) and former top contender Gabriel Gonzaga was added to the UFC 166 roster.
TheAdvocate first reported the scrap, which the UFC subsequently confirmed by re-tweeting their article.
Jordan has won four of his last five bouts, including two straight. “The Savage’s” lone blemish during his current run came in a unanimous decision defeat to Cheick Kongo at UFC 149.
Gonzaga rebounded nicely from a knockout loss to Travis Brown in April by KO’ing Dave Herman last month at UFC 162. “Napao” is also victorious in four of his past five outings.
The 265-pound affair will likely appear in the card’s prelims.
The October 21 event takes place inside Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.
Here is the show’s updated lineup:
Tony Ferguson vs. Mike Rio
Shawn Jordan vs. Gabriel Gonzaga
Hector Lombard vs. Nate Marquardt
Luke Rockhold vs. Tim Boetsch
Diego Sanchez vs. Gilbert Melendez
Roy Nelson vs. Daniel Cormier
Junior dos Santos vs. Cain Velasquez (UFC heavyweight champion)
