UFC Strikeforce Paul Daley

Paul Daley (pictured) is officially one-and-done with Bellator MMA. Put another way, Bellator is done with Paul Daley, and Maiquel Falcao for that matter.

MMAFighting is reporting that Bellator has released both fighters following their legal troubles.

According to Bellator, Daley recently plead guilty to one count of assault by beating and two counts of obstructing or resisting a constable in executing their duties. Daley’s deal ensured no jail time, but according to the promotion, would continue to cause visa issues that could prevent him from entering America to compete for the promotion.

Just a couple of weeks ago, Falcao was involved in a brawl which left his teammate Kaue Mena in a coma. A rumble ensued after Falcao shoved a female inside a gas station. The all-out fracas spilled outside, where Falcao and Mena were met with what appeared to be a wooden board.

The riot was caught on video:

Of course, Falcao is no stranger to the law. The 32-year-old was released from the UFC in 2011 after being sentenced to 18-months probation from a 2002 assault charge in Brazil.

“We examine each situation on a case by case basis and, in these two instances, the violent nature of both situations has led to our decision to release both fighters from the organization,” Bellator director of communications Anthony Mazzuca told MMAFighting. “We recently received and reviewed the real documents in Daley’s situation, which made clear that he was not in fact cleared, but was actually convicted of both assault by beating and obstructing an officer.

“And, in Maiquel’s situation the video speaks for itself,” he continued. “After reviewing the footage and speaking to the parties involved, including Maiquel and his former manager and trainer Marcelo Brigadeiro, we felt this was the appropriate decision. Maiquel was nothing but a professional during his time with Bellator, but these recent developments have prevented us from keeping Maiquel with the organization.”

Falcao went 3-1 under Bellator’s watch, while Daley was victorious in his lone outing for the organization last July.
