UFC light heavyweight king Jon Jones not only sounded like a girl when he trashed Daniel Cormier (pictured) last week during the UFC’s World Tour, but a whiny high school-aged female at that – so says Cormier.
Among countless other things, Jones claimed Cormier was merely picking a fight with him to become famous, that he looked awful in his UFC debut and that Cormier’s résumé doesn’t warrant an immediate shot at his title once he drops to the 205-pound division. Oh, “Bones” also said Cormier was “not relevant.”
While appearing as an analyst on FUEL TV’s UFC 163 post-fight show, Cormier was provided a platform to publicly address his bitter rival’s comments for the first time.
“When I hear his quote, it’s like a 16-year-old girl,” Cormier stated. “Jon Jones, grow up, bud.”
“We’re going to fight, regardless of how you feel. And when we do, I’m cutting the line and you might as well pull the guard because I’m taking you down.”
Cormier will enter his final heavyweight affair when he battles Roy Nelson at UFC 166. After the October shootout, a victorious Cormier intends to ask UFC brass to leapfrog the light heavyweight line for an instant shot at Jones’ title.
In the meantime, Jones is fully focused on UFC 165 where he’ll be defending his throne against Alexander Gustafsson.
