Apparently, the injury bug doesn’t just rear its ugly head to ruin UFC cards. On Thursday, MMAFighting confirmed with World Series of Fighting officials that an undisclosed injury has forced Anthony Johnson out of his September 14 scrap with Mike Kyle.
Have no fear, former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski (pictured) has agreed to serve as a last-minute substitute.
Johnson and Kyle were slated to headline the show in a light heavyweight affair. Arlovski and Kyle will now collide in a 265-pound bout.
Arlovski was last seen dropping a unanimous decision to Johnson at WSOF 2. The “Pit Bull” had rattled off five straight wins prior to the March defeat.
Kyle, meanwhile, fought most recently in May, when he needed just 21 seconds to score a KO win over veteran Travis Wiuff.
WSOF 5 takes place inside Revel Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
NBC Sports Network will broadcast the five-fight main card live.
Here is the event’s current roster:

David Branch vs. Danillo Villefort (WSOF Middleweight Tournament)
