After a spectacular night of MMA action, UFC president Dana White awarded Travis Browne (pictured), Matt Brown, Chael Sonnen and Brad Pickett each an additional $50,000 for their special performances Saturday night at “UFC Fight Night: Shogun vs. Sonnen.” Michael McDonald double dipped and scored two bonus checks.
It took Brown all of 29 seconds to put Mike Pyle to sleep and win “Knockout of the Night.”
Not to be outdone, Browne survived an early onslaught to knock Alistair Overeem unconscious. Browne unleashed a front kick to “The Demolition Man’s” face and dropped several bombs on the canvas to secure the win and score a second KO bonus check.
McDonald pulled off the craftiest tap out on the card with his triangle choke on Pickett to earn “Submission of the Night.” The evening wasn’t a complete loss for Pickett, as he and McDonald won “Fight of the Night” for their back-and-forth battle.
Sonnen also scored “Submission of the Night” for his surprising guillotine choke on Mauricio “Shogun” Rua in the show’s featured attraction.
UFC Fight Night took place inside TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.
