Accoridng to MMAFighting, a critcial welterweight affair between Jake Shields (pictured) and Demian Maia will headline the UFC’s fourth show on Fox Sports 1.
Shields has enjoyed mild success inside the Octagon. The former Strikeforce middleweight champion had rattled off 14 consecutive wins prior to entering the big leagues in 2010. He’s gone just 3-2 (1 NC) in the UFC.
Maia has been on a tear since leaving the 185-pound division. He’s posted three dominant welterweight wins after making the transition in July 2012, with his most recent victory coming in a lopsided decision over former top contender Jon Fitch.
The outlet also reported welterweights Erick Silva and Dong Hyun Kim will co-headline the gig.
The October 9 event takes place at a yet-to-be announced venue in Brazil.
Fox Sports 1 will broadcast the main card live in America.
