While appearing as a guest on “Fox Sports Live,” UFC president Dana White announced Wednesday night that former light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida (pictured) will meet Tim Kennedy in a middleweight affair on November 6.
Machida will be entering hostile territory, as the two will collide in a Fight for the Troops event at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
Kennedy, a former Green Beret, will be riding a two-fight winning streak into the shootout. The 33-year-old will be looking to improve upon July’s uneventful unanimous decision win over Roger Gracie in his UFC debut.
Machida, meanwhile, will try to rebound from this month’s highly controversial decision defeat to Phil Davis. The majority of the 35-year-old’s professional fights have taken place in the light heavyweight division.
Fox Sports 1 will broadcast the show’s main card. No other bouts have been announced for the lineup at this time.
