The good news for George Roop and Francisco Rivera is that they are still going to fight each other. The bad news for the bantamweights is they won’t be doing it on one of the biggest cards of the year.
Instead of meeting at “UFC 166: Velasquez vs. Dos Santos III” on October 19, they will now do battle at “UFC Fight for the Troops 3” on November 6. Taking their place at UFC 166 will be a thrilling female scrap with Sarah Kaufman and Jessica Eye.
The UFC recently announced the swap.
Kaufman was initially slated to fight Sara McMann on August 28, but McMann was forced to withdraw for undisclosed personal reasons.
The 135-pound affair will appear in the night’s prelims.
Toyota Center in Houston, Texas hosts the festivities. The heavyweight trilogy between champion Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos headlines the pay-per-view broadcast.
