As expected, the battle of TRT vs. TRT will go down on November 9. During Wednesday’s post-fight press conference, UFC president Dana White announced Vitor Belfort and Dan Henderson will rematch in Brazil.
This marks Belfort’s third straight fight in his homeland of Brazil. “The Phenom” has won four of his past five scraps, including two consecutive in highlight reel fashion.
Belfort requested a fight with Chael Sonnen immediately after watching Sonnen submit former light heavyweight champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua earlier this month. It appears Belfort will have to settle that beef at a later date.
Henderson is searching for a much-needed victory. The 42-year-old has dropped two in a row, with his most recent coming in a split decision defeat to Rashad Evans at UFC 161.
Henderson posted a unanimous decision victory over Belfort in October of 2006 at Pride 32.
It is believed both veterans will again request, and be granted, therapeutic-use exemptions for testosterone replacement therapy (TRT).
Fox Sports 1 will broadcast the main card live in North America. A yet-to-be announced arena in Goiania, Brazil hosts the festivities.
