Although the UFC did their best to replace the defunct blockbuster main event between heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar and Shane Carwin, “UFC 106: Ortiz vs. Griffin II” still lacks the overall star power of most UFC pay-per-view broadcasts. However, there will be some significant scraps going down on the November 21st show.
Tito Ortiz makes his Octagon return after taking off 18 months to repair his back and work out a UFC contract extension. The 34-year-old looks to make one final run at the 205-pound crown, a division that he once ruled many moons ago.
Forrest Griffin was last seen being humiliated by middleweight champ Anderson Silva at UFC 101. Griffin lost an embarrassing 2ndRound TKO after “The Spider” jabbed him into unconsciousness. Forrest has lost two straight, so needless to say he desperately needs to avenge his UFC 59 split decision loss to Ortiz if he intends to get back in the mix.
