On Sunday afternoon, a lightweight scrap between former top contenders Nate Diaz (pictured) and Gray Maynard was announced for “The Ultimate Fighter 18 Finale.”
The event takes place November 30 inside Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
They will be meeting for the third time, but only the second in an official capacity. Diaz submitted “The Bully” in the semifinals of “The Ultimate Fighter 5” in 2007. Maynard settled the score in an official fight in 2010 with a split decision win.
Diaz has dropped two straight scraps, with his most recent setback coming via TKO to Josh Thomson in April. Given Diaz’s aggressive game and popularity, it’s unlikely he’s fighting for his UFC life.
Maynard, meanwhile, is also looking to bounce back from a TKO loss. He was plastered by TJ Grant at UFC 160 in May.
No other bouts have been confirmed for the show at this time.
