Former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson has been charged with two felony and four misdemeanor counts by the Orange County District Attorney’s Office. Rampage was arrested by Costa Mesa police on July 15th after he sent authorities on a chase after he hit a vehicle and attempted to flee the scene in his pick-up truck, which happened to have a large image of himself on the side.
Rampage was officially charged with “one felony count of evading while driving recklessly, one felony count of evading a peace officer and driving against traffic, three misdemeanor counts of hit and run with property damage, and one misdemeanor count of reckless driving.”
Rampage is facing a maximum sentence of three years in prison if found guilty on all counts. The troubled fighter will be arraigned on August 28th in Santa Ana, California. His bail was set at $25,000.
Fortunately, Rampage is only facing the aforementioned charges. One of the cars that he struck contained 38-year old Holly Griggs of Huntington Beach. At the time of the accident she was 16 weeks pregnant, and has since miscarried.
Griggs has not brought any charges against Rampage on her own, however after gathering medical information the Orange County District Attorney’s Office concluded that the miscarriage had nothing to do with Rampage.
“We reviewed all the medical records and spoke with the victim’s physician and the evidence showed that the loss of the fetus was not related to the crash,” said Farrah Emami, a spokesperson for the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
It is being rumored that the UFC may have Rampage compete on their UFC 92 New Year’s Eve card on December 27th against Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. It will be interesting to see how much of a distraction this will be for the fallen champion.
