On Tuesday afternoon, a critical heavyweight shootout between Josh Barnett (pictured) and Travis Browne was added to at UFC 168.
Las Vegas Review-Journal first reported the bout, which the UFC subsequently confirmed by re-tweeting the article.
Barnett snapped his 11-year Octagon hiatus in triumphant fashion by posting a TKO victory over Frank Mir last month at UFC 164. The former UFC heavyweight champion has notched 10 wins in his last 11 outings, with his lone blemish during that run coming in the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix finals against Daniel Cormier.
Browne will be riding a two-fight winning streak into the matchup. “Hapa” scored the biggest win of his career by rallying to knockout Alistair Overeem in his last outing.
The 265-pound affair will appear on the main card.
UFC 168 takes place December 28 inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. A middleweight rematch between champion Chris Weidman and Anderson Silva headlines the pay-per-view broadcast.
