The dreaded injury bug has taken a bite out of former Strikeforce middleweight champion Luke Rockhold. On Wednesday night, the UFC announced CB Dollaway (pictured) will replace a wounded Rockhold to fight Tim Boetsch at UFC 166.
After losing two straight scraps, Dollaway righted the ship by winning two in a row. “The Doberman” was last seen taking a split decision over Daniel Sarafian in January.
Boetsch, on the other hand, is looking to rebound from back-to-back defeats. After rattling off four consecutive victories inside the Octagon, “The Barbarian” has since dropped bouts to Costa Philippou and more recently to Mark Munoz.
Boetsch and Rockhold were slated to headline the Fox Sports 1 portion of the festivities. It’s believed the new matchup will maintain that same slot in the lineup.
No word on the extent of Rockhold’s knee injury or how long he’ll be forced to ride the pine.
The October 19 event takes place inside Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. A heavyweight trilogy between champion Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos headlines the pay-per-view broadcast.
