EliteXC Vice President Jared Shaw revealed late Monday night that EliteXC plans to hold a Novemeber 8th card on Showtime. Four fighters have already agreed to compete on the card, however no opponents have been assigned as of yet. Joey Villasenor, Brett Rogers, Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante, and Nick Diaz have all agreed to fight.
Villasenor was slated to fight on EliteXC’s August 20th card in front of his hometown fans in New Mexico, however EliteXC cancelled the card at the last minute. It has been rumored that EliteXC would give Villasenor a title shot against Robbie Lawler and Shaw told MMAJunkie that it is a possibility, but would not confirm the bout.
Rogers has been calling for a shot at EliteXC’s golden boy, Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson, on their CBS show on October 4th, however EliteXC announced yesterday that Kimbo would be taking on MMA legend Ken Shamrock instead.
Rogers and Kimbo got into an altercation at the post fight press conference after EliteXC’s last show on CBS in May. Rogers claimed that Kimbo clearly tapped out in his fight against James Thompson, however Kimbo claims that tapping out is not in his vocabulary. No conclusive video evidence has surfaced regarding the alleged tap.
EliteXC has desperately tired to pit Diaz’ bitter rival, and current lightweight champion, KJ Noons, for their October 4th show on CBS, however Noons and his team have refused the rematch. Noons already holds a win over Diaz, and feels that Diaz is not the number one contender to his belt.
