On Wednesday night, a lightweight shootout between Gleison Tibau (pictured) and Michael Johnson was announced for UFC 168.
The UFC confirmed the scrap via Twitter.
Tibau is victorious in six of his past eight tangos, including two straight. The Brazilian held on to take a split decision win over Jamie Varner last month at UFC 164.
Johnson, meanwhile, possibly saved his UFC career by collecting a much-needed win over Joe Lauzon in his most recent outing. “The Menace” had dropped his two bouts prior to last month’s W.
The 155-pound affair will likely appear in the night’s prelims.
UFC 168 takes place December 28 inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. A middleweight rematch between champion Chris Weidman and Anderson Silva headlines the pay-per-view broadcast.
Here is the event’s current lineup:
Gleison Tibau vs. Michael Johnson
Josh Barnett vs. Travis Browne
Miesha Tate vs. Ronda Rousey (UFC bantamweight champion)
Anderson Silva vs. Chris Weidman (UFC middleweight champion)
