Mono vs. Man – In the biggest MMA heavyweight tease in quite some time, the bout between UFC champ Brock Lesnar and Shane Carwin is a-go, however nobody knows when or where.Lesnar has contracted mononucleosis and will be unable to train for the next 4-6 weeks. So, when will these two FINALLY meet?
“We’re still trying to figure it out and I’m really not sure where any of it stands right now,” UFC president Dana White recently told Yahoo! Sports regarding his 265-pound dilemma.
The two were initially slated to battle at UFC 106 on November 21st, however the organization was forced push it back a month to UFC 108 in order to give the champ appropriate time to recoup from what was originally reported as H1N1, commonly known as Swine Flu.
Based on White’s timeline for Lesnar, the earliest we can expect to see the wrestler back inside an Octagon with a proper training camp would be in February. The UFC is rumored to be hosting UFC 109 on the 6th in Las Vegas and UFC 110 on the 21st in Australia.
Due to the earlier broadcast time, it’s highly unlikely the world’s biggest MMA show would waste Lesnar’s pay-per-view drawing power on an overseas show, so that would only leave 109, which might be a little too soon for the former WWE employee.
No word on when and where UFC 111 will take place yet, however it appears that March might be when this madness goes down.
