The gamesmanship between UFC welterweights Mike Swick and Dan Hardy is heating up as their UFC 105 bout in Manchester, England steadily approaches. Hardy, the ever-gracious Brit, wanted to welcome his opponent to his homeland by offering him a gift to remember the trip by.

“I’d like to thank Mike for giving me the opportunity to fight him because I’ve always enjoyed watching his fights, and I respect him a lot,” Hardy said at the UFC 105 press conference. “I think it’s going to be a great fight.”

And here’s the good stuff …

“I actually got Mike a little something so he didn’t leave England empty handed – just something to remember his journey by. I got him a runner-up trophy just so he doesn’t leave empty handed,” Hardy sarcastically said as he handed Swick a toy trophy. “I’m going to be busy after the fight answering questions and trying to make a gameplan for Georges St. Pierre.”

Swick, who’s always down for a good verbal spat, took the mic and thanked his foe for the gift, however he intends to give it right back on Saturday night.

“I want to thank Dan Hardy for this trophy,” Swick stated. “It means a lot. Coming runner-up in a press conference is pretty cool, but I want everybody to know that I’m going to give this right back to him after our fight.”

Swick also promised that this won’t be the last time that you see the 2nd Place statue either.

“My corner guys will be carrying this to the Octagon, but I’ll keep it for now,” Swick said.
