Anthony Johnson (pictured) vs. Mike Kyle: Take Two. After being forced out of their initial tango at World Series of Fighting 5 with an injury, Johnson will get a second shot to face Kyle when they headline the promotion’s December 7 show.
On Wednesday, WSOF announced the have acquired Aggression Fighting Championship, reportedly “Canada’s top MMA organization,” and will launch World Series of Fighting Canada inside Vancouver’s PNE Agrodome.
“The launch of World Series of Fighting Canada is an incredibly exciting announcement for our promotion,” WSOF president Ray Sefo said. “From the beginning, we have maintained our desire to bring our elite-level mixed martial arts action to Canada and the great MMA fans that live there, as well as markets around the globe.
“We embrace this new division of our company that will allow us to make great strides into Canada, which has long proven to have one of the most passionate and knowledgeable MMA fan bases in the world.”
Johnson made his WSOF debut at the promotion’s premiere show and delivered a knockout finish over D.J. Linderman. The Blackzilian returned to action in March and scored a convincing decision win over former UFC heavyweight champ Andrei Arlovski.
Kyle, meanwhile, dropped a unanimous decision to Arlovski in September after Johnson exited the show stage left.
A rescheduled middleweight tournament semifinal bout between Elvis Mutapcic and Jesse Taylor was also confirmed for the lineup.
