UFC Rousimar Palhares

After a night of freebie MMA action, UFC president Dana White awarded Raphael Assuncao, TJ Dillashaw and Dong Hyun Kim each an additional $50,000 for their special performances Wednesday night at “UFC Fight Night 29.”

Dillashaw may have left Brazil with a controversial split decision defeat, but he won’t be heading home completely empty handed. He, and Assuncao, scored “Fight of the Night” for the back-and-forth battle.

Kim’s out-of-nowhere left hand knocked Erick Silva out cold in the show’s co-main event. The strike was good enough to earn the Korean “Knockout of the Night.”

Rousimar Palhares (pictured) pulled off the only submission on the card when it took him all of 31 seconds to catch Mike Pierce in a heel hook. Unfortunately for Palhares, the UFC didn’t appreciate that he held the lock a few extra ticks after Pierce cried uncle.

They rightfully denied him “Submission of the Night” honors “due to unsportsmanlike conduct.”

UFC Fight Night 29 took place inside Jose Correa Arena in Sao Paulo.

Raphael Assuncao and TJ Dillashaw ($50,000/each)
