UFC Lightweight Anthony Pettis

Anthony Pettis (pictured) went shopping for a fancy diamond-studded Rolex yesterday at Harry the Jeweler. Perhaps the freshly-minted UFC lightweight champion might want to save his pennies, just in case.

According to the Wisconsin Department of Safety & Professional Services, the athletic commission that oversaw him dethrone Benson Henderson at UFC 164 in Milwaukee, Pettis only pocketed a disclosed $54,000, with half of his paycheck coming via win bonus, for beating Bendo.

Henderson, meanwhile, took home $110,000 for his troubles.

In all, seven fighters on the card scored a larger disclosed payday than Pettis. However, “Showtime” did walk away with an extra $50,000, which is not noted below, for taking “Submission of the Night.” He also now dons the 155-pound crown.

Longtime UFC veteran Frank Mir, who was quickly TKO’d by Josh Barnett in the co-main event, was the event’s highest earner with $200,000.

Please keep in mind, the numbers that get reported to the athletic commissions are only of what’s required. These figures do not include deductions for items such as licenses and taxes.

Additionally, they do not contain money paid by sponsors or any bonuses from the UFC. These royalties can include Fight Night bonuses, top secret discretionary bonuses, etc., which can oftentimes represent a substantial portion of a fighter’s total income.

Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin hosted the August 31 event.
