UFC Cain Velasquez

For those of you who couldn’t appreciate Cain Velasquez’s (pictured) haymakers on Junior dos Santos in real-time speed at UFC 166, FOX has released super-slow-mo clips taken off their Phantom Cam from Saturday’s fights.

Just watching the hits during the live bouts, it’s tough to appreciate how powerful the strikes are. Seeing the ripples go through the receiver via the Phantom Cam really gives you an idea of how much force was behind the shots.

My favorite footage includes John Dodson’s missed backflip off the Octagon fence following his victory, Diego Sanchez’s right uppercut that sent Gilbert Melendez to the canvas and Daniel Cormier’s big right hook that forced Roy Nelson’s ponytail to whip in the opposite direction.

BTW, I can do without the closeup on Sanchez’s nasty eyebrow gash next time.

UFC 166 took place Saturday night inside Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.
